Boxxer Provides Update On Diamond Drilling Program At Boss Project

    April 9, 2009

CALGARY, Alberta –Boxxer Gold Corp (TSXV – “BXX”) announces today Phase II on the Boss project is expected to commence upon receipt of approval of the Notice of Intent from the Bureau of Land Management (“BLM”), anticipated within the next three weeks.  Boxxer also provides an update of drilling consisting of six diamond drill holes (“DDH”) on its 100% owned Boss copper-gold project in southwest Nevada from which assays are pending.  The Boss copper-gold project is located within the historical Goodsprings Mining district.

Highlights of the Drilling Program are:

    • Three DDH on the Boss Mine tested the lateral and horizontal extent of the copper-gold mineralization outlined in the underground workings by the recently completed channel sampling program, and
    • Three DDH around the Oro Amigo Mine target to test the lateral and down dip extent of copper-gold mineralization outlined in 2008.

Phase II Drilling Program, Boss Extension

Upon approval by the BLM, Boxxer will complete two 300 m deep DDH.  The drilling on the Boss Extension is designed to test the mineralization exposed on surface and around the periphery of an interpreted porphyritic monzonite intrusive underlying the Boss Extension a setting similar to that which exists in the Robinson Mining District of Nevada.

    Exploration Model:

The Boss Extension is approximately 650 m long by 550 m wide where extensive, disseminated and fracture controlled skarn hosted copper-gold mineralization (+/- silver-platinum-palladium) is exposed on surface, in adits, pits and trenches. The copper-gold mineralization exhibits a strong bismuth-cobalt-nickel-lead-zinc geochemical signature.  The Boss Extension occurs within a 4,000 m long skarn (interpreted to be the marble front) related to porphyritic monzonite dikes exposed in outcrop and in underground workings and an oval shaped 500 m long by 400 m wide positive magnetic signature located under the Boss Extension.  Similar to other skarn related porphyry districts in the Southwest United States, the Goodsprings District exhibits a well defined mineral zonation.  Historical production from the Goodsprings Mining District is reported to be 270 million pounds of lead and zinc and 65,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of one ounce per ton.

    Boss Mine:

Three DDH (totalling 182m) were completed to test the lateral and horizontal extent of the copper-gold mineralization exposed in the four upper levels of the Boss Mine (see the results News Release dated March 25, 2009: channel sampling included 1.25% Cu, 0.75 g/t Au, 0.34 g/t PGE and 4.08 g/t Ag over 120.0 m including 0.77% Cu, 5.96 g/t Au, 1.16g/t PGE and 7.60 g/t Ag over a 5.30 m).  The three DDH intersected brecciated and fractured hematitic and limonitc stained marble.

    Oro Amigo Mine:

Three DDH (totalling 115 m) were completed over a strike length of 250 m to test the down dip extension of the copper-gold mineralization outlined by the channel sampling program in 2008 (see News Release dated April 22, 2008).  The first DDH tested the Southwest adit and intersected variable amount of hematite and limonite in the core.  The other two DDHs tested the down dip extension of the copper-gold mineralization exposed in the Upper Level of the Oro Amigo mine workings and intersected weak concentrations of oxide copper mineralization (malachite) in the upper 15 m of the hole.

Logging and splitting of the core has been completed. The samples have been submitted to ALS Chemex for 42 element Induced Couple Plasma (“ICP”) analysis.  Analytical results are expected to be received in approximately three weeks.

    Future Plans:

Boxxer plans to conduct a surface exploration program to systematically complete the channel sampling of the Copperside Mine, the Boss #10 adit, the Ironside Northeast underground workings and a surface mapping and sampling program to further define the three large copper-gold in bedrock anomalies.
